Caritas Jersey is of the view that the lack of supply of affordable housing and social rent housing is a major contributing factor to Poverty in Jersey.

We applaud the work of Christians Together Jersey Housing Trust (CTJHT) in its attempt to provide social housing for the marginalised.

It is all the more shocking that the Planning Minister rejected its plans for the redevelopment of the former Scope building in Minden Street.  The scheme is for 31 much-needed apartments.  Happily the Trust has decided to appeal the refusal and a decision is due shortly.  Let’s hope and pray that the Minister supports the Housing Minister and approves this important addition to the pathetically small stock of socially rented homes.
