Prisoners’ Families Support Scheme

SmallLogoSquareCaritas Jersey is pleased to announce that the One Foundation has agreed to fund one part time worker for the Prisoners’ Families Support Scheme and a second after one year if the scheme is successful.  This is the breakthrough that we have been anxiously awaiting.

We are delighted to tell you that we have now recruited a very experienced talented and professional to take up this role. Her name is Graca Ramos.

Graca has worked with Brighter Futures and teaches Portuguese in States’ schools.

Graca starts work with us on 2 May and we already have a large portfolio of cases waiting for her.  There is no doubt in our minds that the need is great and it may be that a second worker will be required sooner than later.

We are also delighted to announce that we have received a small grant from the Catholic Diocese of Portsmouth to fund a second worker for a few weeks to cover for Graca when she goes on holiday.  We have appointed Naomi West to this second role.

We still need funds to make Naomi’s role more permanent and  we would be more than grateful for any help that you can give us to meet this need, whether by way of finance or volunteer service.  Just contact johnscally@caritasjersey.je
